Psalm 91:12 In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
Imagine angels lifting you up with their hands so that you do not even stub your toe! Imagine angels keeping you safe as you drive, catching you when you fall, showing you the way when you are lost, moving your hand before you wrap your knuckles on the edge of the table. Can you see how much God loves us?
The devil used this very scripture to tempt Jesus to “prove” He was the Messiah, by saying, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.'” Jesus answered, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.’ ” Jesus did not need to prove who he was, He knew, He had just heard the Father tell Him so at the Jordan River. Satan wanted Jesus to doubt who He was and try to prove Himself. Satan wanted to steal the Word from Jesus.
The parable of the sower explains how the devil comes to steal the Word that is sown in our hearts. His plan was no different with Jesus. Father God had just proclaimed to Jesus that He was His Beloved Son in whom He was well pleased. (I suspect that caused quite a stir in the spirit realm.)
The only way the Word of God can bear fruit in our lives is when it is sown in our hearts. Jesus explained to the disciples, “he who receives seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who accepts it, who keeps it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”
Satan wants us to doubt who we are in Christ Jesus. He wants us to look at our own holiness and disqualify ourselves from the promises. When Peter and John told the man at the gate beautiful to rise up and walk and the people started to gather around, Peter said, “Why do you look at us, as if by our own holiness we made this man walk, it is faith in the Name of Jesus that made this man walk.”
Receive the promise of angels watching over you today because of who Jesus is!
I pray this scripture for my 1 year old grandson as he is learning to walk. One day when I was watching him, he toddled over to their dog, squatted down and gave her a hug as she was lying on the hardwood floor. She got excited, thinking he wanted to play with her and jumped up, knocking him over backwards. His head hit hard right square on a little pillow he had been playing with earlier and left on the floor. He didn’t even cry, although he did lay there for a moment with his eyes wide open wondering what had just happened. Of all the places he could have fallen, he hit the one spot that was cushioned. Thank you Jesus!
