Psalm 91:7 A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you.
Now that is a promise! When God Himself is your fortress, your safe refuge, disaster and devastation shall not come near you.
A personal illustration that comes to mind is a time when there were forest fires raging in Florida. My husband’s parent’s property was right in the path of the fire, my mother-in-law went outside and declared that the blood of Jesus was protecting their property. The fire went around the property and it did not come near her!
What was she doing? She was declaring God’s protection, she put their property in the secret place. When we declare God’s promises, we are not trying to get God to do something He is unwilling to do. On the contrary, we are declaring what God has already done and given us in His Word.
We declare God is our protection because He is. We choose to receive God’s protection because He is our protection. Faith declares and lays hold of what God has promised, it brings the reality of the gospel into this realm where we can experience it.
That is how each one of us who is born again received salvation! We are saved by grace through faith. Once a person receives salvation, their confession never changes. They say, “I am saved”, they don’t say, “I am trying to be saved” or “I hope so.” They know!
Everything received from God is by grace through faith!
Sickness, disease, and disaster, listen up! You shall not come near me! The Lord is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I trust.
He is an AWESOME GOD indeed!!!!!
This reminds me of another verse in Isaiah 54.
Verse 15: Indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me.
Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake.
A couple of good examples of this in the Bible is when Jehoshaphat sought the Lord when their enemies were coming to attack and He told them to put the singers out front. The enemy turned on themselves and Israel didn’t have to even lift a sword in their defense.
Another one is 2 Kings 6:7 when the enemy was surrounding the city and the young man with Elisha asked him what they should do. “And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
God is on my side. I WILL NOT FEAR!
