Psalm 91:8 Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked.
Have you noticed a progression as we have been going through the Psalm? First, we know, “surely He will deliver us,” then “we shall not be afraid,” then “it shall not come near us.” The more that you meditate and declare, “The Lord is my fortress, He is my safe refuge,” the more you will know the reality of God’s love and protection.
We are not trusting in what we heard someone else say or even in our faith, we are putting our trust in our God. He wants us to know Him, to put our trust in Him! Even though Paul went through severe persecutions for the sake of the gospel, he declared “..I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him..” (2 Tim 1:12)
Ephesians 2:4-6 tells us “God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus..”
Being seated with Christ in heavenly places is another picture of the secret place, a place of sweet fellowship, a place of authority. A place where, “Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked.”
What is the reward of the wicked? Again let’s use scripture to define scripture. Rom 6:23 tells us, “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Those who have not accepted the free gift of eternal life in Christ are earning the wages of sin and death.
1 Peter 4:15 tells us we are “not to suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters.” We as Christians are not to suffer like the world under the curse of law, Gal 3:13 tells us, “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree..”)”
Romans 8:1-4 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
Our Father does not want us to suffer any of the things that belong to the curse, we have been redeemed by the precious blood of Christ Jesus.
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so! (Psalm 107:2)
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so … I have been redeemed … Thank you Jesus!
Thanks for the metamorphosis video, Priscilla. Loved it!
“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” These are spiritual laws. They work every time, just like the law of gravity. I am in Christ Jesus and the law of the Spirit of life is working in me, therefor sin and death have no hold over me. It is just like for an airplane, the law of lift sets it free from the law of gravity. Nothing can take me out of Christ Jesus so I am always free, I don’t have to vacillate back and forth between living under the curse or under God’s blessing.
Amen!
